Paper Sculptures

“The colors and images create a texture that I love. The energy cannot be created in the same way using other mediums. We need to use existing materials to transform and change our world into something beautiful. This is why I use recyclables in my work”.
-Emilio Aponte-Sierra

Not only was Emilio introduced to painting during his High School days at the National Loperena School-Valledupar, Colombia, but it was at Magdalena University while working with a theater company called “Colectivo teatral para niños los muñecos”, and under the artistic direction of Mary Luz Giraldo, when he fell in love with the use of paper and the creation of mask and sculptures. The Artist has developed a unique method of weaving together pages from colorful magazines and news publications. He also cuts, folds, interlaces, rolls and twists the recycled paper to create 3D art pieces. Each piece is presented in an acrylic box.

All art are for sale. Comissione are welcome. Contact: emilioapontesierra@gmail.com
